On Friday 11th October 2024, PUKDS hosted it's first Inclusive Golf Tournament. Players took to a very challenging course at Cambridgeshire's Brampton Park Golf Club, which also boasts the toughest Par 3 in the UK.

Before the players tee'd off at midday, we were able to host a Phil Meadows from Golf Trust, who had agreed to bring with him a Paragolfer. This piece of kit allows golfers who would otherwise not be able to play the game, through the inability to stand for long periods of time to take a shot, to be assisted by the machine where they are strapped in and lifted into  position.

It was fantastic to watch a player that not only has never used a Paragolfer before, but has never even played golf before their injury left them in a wheelchair after military service.

After just a couple of swings getting used to the Paragolfer, he was hitting balls quite a distance down the range.

Midday approached and after some practice on the range and the chip and put green, the players tee'd off on a bright sunny day, however this did not mean that the fairways were easy. After several days of downpour the previous week, there were several unexpected water traps on the course.

This additional traps, made the course even more challenging, so after what seemed like a round of swamp golf, the players emerged from the 18th to round up the event.

The tournament had everything, bunker shots, water drops and a couple of challenges thrown in to test the golfers ability to hit the furthest drive and get nearest the pin on a Par 3.

We are also pleased to announce that the event was supported by PXG, who have donated prizes to the winner of the tournament and each of the challenges. Each player also picking up a PUKDS trophy.
